Classic Apple Cobbler

A cobbler is a dessert consisting of a fruit filling poured into a large baking dish and covered with a batter or dumpling style topping. Excellent in the winter time.

Fruit mixture

In a large pie dish combine and mix:

  • 5 Granny smiths peeled and sliced
  • 3/4 Cup of sugar
  • 2 Tablespoons of plain flour 
  • 1/2 Teaspoon cinnamon 
  • 1 Teaspoon vanilla 
  • 1/4 Cup water 
  • 1 Tablespoon Butter but into small pieces

Then cover the above fruit mix with the following topping mixture.

  • 1/2 Cup plain flour 
  • 1/2 Cup sugar
  • 1/2 Teaspoon baking powder 
  • 1/4 Teaspoon salt
  • 2 Tablespoons of melted/soften butter 
  • 1 Egg


In a large pie dish fill the base with the fruit mix and then cover with the topping mixture. Dust with sugar and cinnamon
